Fire Station Visit

Our recent visit to the Fire Station in Burri was a great success.  The Fire Brigade put on a great morning for us which began as soon as we pulled up to the station.  We were greeted by the officers in full uniform and the Fire Engines with their sirens blaring.  After a short introduction, we piled into the Fire Engines and were treated to a ride around the local neighbourhood.  The officers then blocked off the street and set a fire, which we took turns to extinguish using the hose from the Fire Engine.  We then moved on to watch a rescue from a manhole followed by CPR to the 'patient'.  After that, the Chief Officer explained about the dangers of playing with matches, gas, electricity etc.  We learned that the number to call if there is a fire is '998'.  The Officers brought juice, a snack and a toy for each child.  We are very grateful to the staff at the Fire Station for giving us the opportunity to visit the Fire Station and to learn about what the job of a Firefighter involves.
