Week 2

This week we have been concentrating on settling the children into the Nursery and Preschool classes.  They are already making friends and becoming familiar with the environment and the routine.  We have started to introduce the theme Ourselves/All About Me.  This theme will run for several weeks and will cover many aspects to allow the children to really investigate themselves, their families, their environment, their likes and dislikes etc.

The children have been enjoying circle time each morning where they have been learning each others' names.  Nursery children have been discussing colours. They have started to discuss parts of the face as part of the theme. Preschool children have been singing the days of the week, learning the number 1 and the sound and shape for the letter 's'.  Throughout the week they have concentrated on arts and crafts activities related to the letter 's'. 

 

We will attempt to send home most of the children's written work, drawings etc.  each Saturday to give you an idea of what they have been doing each week.  Some of the work will be kept in the nursery for display and to use in the Learning Journeys. 

We will be sending library books home for you to read with your child.  Please ensure that they are returned each Saturday so that we may exchange them. Please look after the books, damaged or lost books will incur a charge of 50sdg.

We are glad to see that most of the children are now wearing uniform.  If you still haven't purchased the uniform, please do so at your earliest convenience.

We are still collecting back the forms regarding the medical information, photographs and bathroom and feeding habits.  If you haven't yet sent the forms, please do so as soon as possible. 

Please send a toothbrush and toothpaste that can be kept at Nursery in order for the children to brush their teeth daily.
