Week 21

Week 21 has been another productive week for the children and an exciting week for the centre.  A recent visit by the Director responsible for inspecting Kindergartens in Khartoum, named us as one of the most systematic and scientific kindergartens in Sudan.  The Management Development Centre used our centre as an example during a training course for supervisors of Kindergarten Level education in Khartoum.

Nursery children have still been concentrating on Jungle/Zoo animals and have been making Monkey masks, tiger masks, snakes, standing clothes peg giraffes and hippopotamus.  In addition they have been tracing vertical, horizontal and slanted lines as well as cutting vertical and horizontal lines.  They are continuing to focus on sounds during circle time which involve musical instruments and also listening to, and identifying, different animal sounds.

Preschool children have been revising the letters, sounds and songs for g, o, c and k.  They were introduced to the number 14 and revised the shapes heart, star, oval and triangle.  They have rounded up the farm theme by doing craft activities such as making chickens, farmers, cows and horses.  They also discussed the dairy products which come from cows and have focused on learning the names of the baby animals.  They are learning to understand the concept of large and small, same and different.  They continue to practice writing their names daily.
