Nursery children have been rounding up their theme about the Farm this week. They have made several crafts including paper plate cows, muddy pigs, hens, handprint horse pictures and turkeys. They have focused on Letters and Sounds Activities page 20 'Roly Poly' and page 21 'Follow the Sound'. They have practised the sounds of the different animals through the 'Animal Sounds' CD and through the songs 'Old MacDonald had a Farm' and 'Down on the Farm'. They are able to recognise animals on flash cards.
Preschool children have been finishing off the theme about Pets. They now have a good understanding about which animals can be kept as pets and which are wild. They are able to match where the pet animals live, e,g. rabbit in a hutch, fish in a tank or pond etc. They have made cats, birds, puppies, rabbits and rainbow fish this week. They have learnt the sound, shape and song for the letter r and can name many objects that begin with the letter 'r'. They have been revising the numbers 6-10, as well as same/different and big/small. After the holiday they will be revising the letters 'ck', 'e', 'u', 'r'.
